In this short post I will show you some really cool things you can do with the YouTube URL you may not know about before. For demonstration I use a Video I found by typing example Video into the search box of YouTube. I think it will do its job for this case. So have fun with these tips and maybe write a comment about how useful you think these tricks are.
Creating GIFs out of Videos
It can be really useful to have a GIF rather than the Video file. It is smaller in file size and it can be fun when it repeats itself over and over. But how to create a GIF out of a YouTube Video? Maybe you think about downloading and converting it but it can be much easier. Simply type gif in front of youtube into the URL like so:
You will be redirected to a Website that looks like this:
Here you can select the part of the Video you want to have in your GIF and add some common other effects to the GIF. Just try it out, it’s awesome!
In case you want to watch a Video or listen to music again and again I know two possibilities to repeat a Video. The first one is a little bit outdated since YouTube implemented the second one but I will show it to you anyway.
1. You can modify the URL like this:
As you can see you just have to add repeat between the first dot and youtube. By hitting enter you will be redirected to a Website that will repeat the Video over and over.
2. This solution is really comfortable and as mentioned before it makes the first solution a bit useless.
You can simply right-click on the Video and select Loop to repeat this Video.
Linking to Time
As you maybe have seen before you can send links with a specific time attached. As a result the one who receives this link will skip to the time you attached to the video. This is really useful if you want to show a specific part of the Video. In this example the video will start a 3 minutes and 35 seconds. You have to add #t=xxmxxs at the end of the URL.
